"At the beginning of the 1980s, I did everything I could to avoid formal problems. Of course, that's an illusion, and somehow you always end up with a formal solution. I only used mirrors in paintings where rooms are shown, so that viewers can put themselves in this room. The rooms were chosen for their social significance. There was a museum, an apartment, the Führer's headquarters, and so on: on-site appointments in the paintings." -Albert Oehlen
