Cette jeune femme nue n’est pas sans rappeler la pose de la figure féminine assise au pied du lit de Sardanapale, les bras écartés et la tête appuyée sur le rebord du lit dans le très célèbre tableau d'Eugène Delacroix : La Mort de Sardanapale conservé au musée du Louvre (inv. RF 2646 : L. Johnson, The Paintings of Eugène Delacroix. A critical Catalogue 1832-1863, Oxford, 1986, I., no. 125).
The nude woman in this drawing holds a pose reminiscent of the female figure in Delacroix’s famous painting in the Louvre, The death of Sardanapalus, where she is at the foot of Sardanapalus’s bed, arms outstretched (inv. RF 2646; see L. Johnson, The Paintings of Eugène Delacroix. A Critical Catalogue 1832-1863, Oxford, 1986, I, no. 125).
