A similar two-colour gold and striped enamel photograph frame by Fabergé, with the workmaster's mark of Henrik Wigström, is held in the Royal Collection. The photograph frame contains the image of H.M. King Edward VII's most successful racehorse, Persimmon, and is enamelled in red and blue, his racing colours. It was purchased by Queen Alexandra for H.M. King Edward VII for £70 from Fabergé, London (C. de Guitaut, Fabergé in the Royal Collection, London, p. 179, no. 224, RCIN 15168).

We are grateful to Dr. Valentin Skurlov for helping research the present lot.
