Rectangular, the hinged cover centring an en plein enamelled cartouche depicting Tsar Alexei Mikhailovich Choosing a Bride after Konstantin Makovsky, enamelled overall with floral and geometric motifs in shades of brown, olive, cream, blue and red on green and blue grounds, the lower border of the sides enamelled with fly agaric mushrooms, marked under base

Peter Theodor Oktavius Christensen Tversted worked for the Danish Great Northern Telegraph Company, in Danish called "Det Store Nordiske Telegraf-Selskab" in Russia in the 1920s and 1930s. Founded in 1868, the company is responsible for laying and maintaining cable in the Baltic Sea, the North Sea, Russia and the Far East.
