The authenticity of this work has kindly been confirmed by Mrs. Françoise Gilot, and is registered under no.456.
Nature morte avec fleurs by Françoise Gilot was painted in 1958, and is typical of the artist's colourful and symbolic compositions. Gilot began her adult life by following her dream of becoming an artist, leaving the security of her parents' home to live in her grandmother's attic. This canvas was painted five years after her separation from Pablo Picasso, with whom she had two children, Claude and Paloma.
