"Julian and I met in 1977/78 when he was a cook at the Locale restaurant, became friends and worked together on many of his projects over the next fifteen years. I moved my studio/shop to the old Mudd Club in the early eighties (Julian's studio was upstairs) where I built the first two plate painting structures for Julian later delivering one of the paintings with him uptown in his Cadillac convertible. I posed for this painting at his studio, now called the Palazzo Chupi, on Eleventh Street in 1988."
