Christie’s is delighted to announce the sale of A Townhouse off Grosvenor Square: The Collection of Dr. Peter D. Sommer, a connoisseur whose passion for collecting was characterised by the pursuit of excellence in the fine and decorative arts of 18th century Europe. Led by François Boucher’s Venus and Cupid, the collection comprises approximately 300 lots of important European and English furniture, objets d’art, Old Master paintings and drawings, Impressionist paintings, silver, jewellery, carpets and Hermès luggage.

Christie’s will offer collectors the exclusive opportunity to view the collection in the Mayfair home of Dr Sommer, just off Grosvenor Square, prior to the auction at Christie’s King Street on 4 December.
