Ernie Barnes

Ernest Eugene Barnes Jr., widely known as Ernie Barnes, was an American artist celebrated for his unique blend of athleticism, rhythm and vibrant colours that imbued in his paintings. Born in 1938 in Durham, North Carolina, Barnes painted scenes from his own life and the African American experience, focusing on themes of community, music and sports.
