the original copper printing plate, cancelled, the cancellation marks softened with burnishing, circa 1888, scratch numbered ‘XV’, with the manufacturer's stamp E. BRIDAULT/?/7 RUE DE LA HUCHETT, with the stamped insignia Three axe heads around a V in a circle/POOTO (?) on the reverse (see R&S. p. 266), with a proof envelope impression from the cancelled plate, on wove paper, without watermark
