Pararajasingam 'Park' Nadesan, OBE, CMG, joined the Ceylon Civil Service in 1941 following his studies at the Royal College Colombo and University of London. After serving as cadet, additional magistrate and additional deputy controller in several districts, he was appointed Director of Civil Aviation and secretary to Prime Minister Sir John Kotelawala till he retired in 1956. Nadesan was appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire in 1954, and a Companion of the Order of St Michael and St George the following year. In the early 1950s, George Keyt lived in Nadesan's home in Colombo and gifted him this painting in gratitude.
