First edition in book form, first impression, in the very rare original dust-jacket. Octavo. 4 pages of publisher’s advertisements at end. Original orange cloth, spine lettered in black (spine sunned, top edges of boards dust-stained, edges faintly spotted, spine ends and one corner slightly bumped, extremities a trifle rubbed); original pictorial dust-jacket, assumed first state with price 7/6 in red ink on spine, supplied from another copy (lower panel with extensive repaired tears, head and parts of spine chipped with small loss, spine slightly discoloured, lower panel and folds somewhat dust-stained). Provenance: Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher (1895-1976, secretary, amanuensis and close friend of Agatha Christie; presentation inscription by the author on front free endpaper, and with Fisher’s posthumous book label).
