Dans cet autoportrait aux contours floutés, comme saisi dans un mouvement de la tête, Li Yongbin traduit sa découverte de la vidéo, qui l’a profondément marqué. La série des Faces se caractérise par cette recherche de l’instant fugace, insaisissable. Les autoportraits de Li Yongbin sont ces arrêts sur image, dans une recherche ascétique de l’instantanéité trop souvent fulgurante. Les Faces ont été exposées dans de nombreuses expositions telles que China Now au MoMa de New York en 2004 , The Real Thing : Contemporary Art from China à la Tate Liverpool en 2007. Plusieurs de ses vidéos ont été également acquises par la Fondation Guy et Myriam Ullens en 2007.

‌In this self-portrait with blurred contours, as if captured in a movement of the head, Li Yongbin expresses his discovery of video, which deeply effected him. The Faces series is characterised by this search for the fleeting, elusive moment. Li Yongbin's self-portraits are these freeze-frames, in an ascetic search for the all too often dazzling instant. The Faces have been shown in numerous exhibitions such as China Now at the MoMa a in New York in 2004, The Real Thing: Contemporary Art from China at the Tate Liverpool in 2007. Several of his videos were also acquired by the Guy and Myriam Ullens Foundation in 2007.
