Israeli-Syrian Armistice Agreement. Hill 232, Mahanayim: 20 July 1949 (map dated September 1949). 4° (268 x 191mm). Carbon-copy typescript, text in English and French, large folding map of Lake Tiberias and the Golan Heights to the scale of 1:50,000 (1450 x 525mm), the Demilitarized Zone and truce lines colour-printed in outline, with key in English, French, Chinese, Russian and Spanish. (Map with tears to creasefolds, but without loss, and with a few minor marginal nicks and chips.) Original brown faux-leather, map in pocket at end.
VERY RARE EXAMPLE OF THE FOURTH AND LAST TRUCE AGREEMENT, ending the formal conflict in the 1948 Arab-Israeli War. Lieutenant Colonel Mordechai Maklef, Yehoshua Penman and Shabtai Rosenne were the Israeli representatives, while the Syrian side was represented by Colonel Fawzi Selo, Lieutenant Colonel Mohamed Nasser and Captain Afif Sizri.
