'Jean dégage une énergie électrique dès qu'il entre dans une pièce. Il remplit l'espace. Il vit dans le présent. Il voit chaque chose, dans la pièce où il se trouve, instantanément. [...] Son génie est manifesté à tout moment dans sa présence physique - ce qui n'est pas vrai de beaucoup d'artistes géniaux - et par son parler paradoxal, original, drôle et percutant. Une des grandes forces de Jean, réside dans le fait qu'il n'a jamais peur d'être ridicule. Il s'exprime sans aucun arrêt, et sans gêne, dans la vie comme dans son travail. Il est comme une de ses machines, toujours en marche.'
