Examples of similar works are in the British Museum, London (inv. 1836,0811.117; Hind 5), the Institut Néerlandais, Paris (inv. 2000; Rembrandt and His Century: Dutch Drawings of the Seventeenth Century from the Collection of F. Lugt, Institut Néerlandais, Paris, exhib. cat., Pierpont Morgan Library, New York, 1978, no. 33) and the Maida and George Abrams Collection (Seventeenth Century Dutch Drawings: A selection from the Maida and George Abrams Collection, exhib. cat., Amsterdam, Rijksprentenkabinett, 1991, no. 97). The latter was considered to be a pendant of the present drawing when they were both included in the Schubart sale.

We are grateful to Dr. Susan Anderson for confirming the attribution to Dusart on the basis of a photograph.
