The portrait of Agatha de Vlaming van Oudtshoorn was most likely commissioned as a wedding portrait when she married the Amsterdam Alderman Roeloff Bicker (1611-1656) in 1639. Shortly after Roeloffs death Agatha married Jacob Schimmelpenninck van der Oye (1608-1677), who was Burgomaster of Zutphen.
