A SAFAVID ILLUSTRATED COPY OF THE HISTORY OF THE PROPHETS (QISAS AL-ANBIYA)

Persian manuscript on paper, 220ff. as numbered plus two fly-leaves, each folio with 15ll. of black nasta'liq script between blue, green and gold rules outlined in black, some text in red or blue nasta'liq script, with sixteen probably 17th century miniatures, each illustrated bifolio with gold illuminated margins with later added polychrome decoration, opening bifolio with two gold and polychrome illuminated shamsas between gold foliage and illuminated frame, followed by two miniatures, followed by first bifolio of text with gold and polychrome headpieces and borders, followed by folio with illuminated headpiece, a note on the doublure states that this copy is signed Ishaq bin Ibrahim Nishapuri, severe damage and staining resulting from waterstaining, in black morocco binding
