Die liebliche Hügellandschaft von Oschwand im Berner Emmental wird in diesem Frühwerk Amiets vorwiegend in Grün- und Rosatönen dargestellt. Im Jahr 1898, kurz nach der Heirat mit Anna Luder, zog das Paar auf die Oschwand. Nach George Mauner, Kunsthistoriker und Experte Amiets, schuf Cuno Amiet in den folgenden Jahren, zwischen 1904 und 1906, einige der "persönlichsten und eindrücklichsten Bilder seiner ganzen Karriere".

In 1898, shortly after his marriage to Anna Luder, the pair moved to Oschwand. According to George Mauner, art historian and expert on the artist, Amiet created in the following years, between 1904 and 1906, some of the "most personal and impressive paintings of his whole career."
