With Greubel Forsey Owner's Book dated March 2008 including International Warranty, Operating Instructions and product information, black piano lacquer wooden presentation box with metal plaque engraved INVENTION PIECE 1 Or Gris no. 05/11, glazed openings in the cover and to the front, two drawers in the sides, containing a sphere-shaped loop, magnifying glass, gloves and a polishing cloth, outer cardboard packaging.
Greubel Forsey's "Invention Piece 1" pays tribute to the "Double Tourbillon 30°" which launched Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey into galactic stardom in 2004.
While the 338-part calibre GF02N of the Invention Piece 1 is based on the Double Tourbillon 30°, the displays, surfaces, architecture and aesthetics have all been profoundly modified and redeveloped. The exquisitely finished horological masterpiece is a solid validation of the underlying fundamental inventions of Greubel Forsey, with an objective to reinforce the link between mechanism and indication, as well as the relentless pursuit to improve timekeeping precision.
The highly inventive hour and minute display comprises of two triangular indicators, red for the hours and blue for the minutes, that enable the observer to follow the passing of time on two concentric semi-circles around the exquisitely finished tourbillon cages; the eccentric seconds and power reserve indicator appear to be in "orbit", reminiscent of a miniature solar system.
The unique nature of the Invention Piece 1 is reinforced by a personalised message engraved in miniature bas-relief on the plate of the case back and will forever accompany the owner of this exceptional timepiece
The Invention Piece 1 was produced in a single edition comprising three unique editions of 11 watches each in white gold, pink gold and platinum, a number (1+1) chosen for its symbolic value representing the Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey partnership.
Greubel & Forsey
Robert Greubel and Stephen Forsey have been working together for nearly 20 years in a relationship founded on their shared technical creativity and quest for perfection.
In 1999 they began working on a new generation of tourbillon specifically designed to improve the timekeeping of the mechanical watch. Four years later they unveiled GREUBEL FORSEY and stunned horological aficionados with their innovative Double Tourbillon 30°, a timepiece clearly demonstrating their twin goals of innovation and excellence.
Robert and Stephen continue to build on their deep traditional knowledge gained with four decades of combined experience in high-end complicated timepieces, by inventing and developing technically valid horological complications to rigorous aesthetic principles.
