拍品专文

The arms are those of Lawrence and Prescott, almost certainly for James Lawrence of Boston, who married Elizabeth Prescott in 1852.

James Lawrence (1821-1875) was the son of Abbott Lawrence (1792-1855) and Katherine Bigelow (1793-1860). Abbott Lawrence, a wealthy textile manufacturer, founded the town of Lawrence, Massachusetts. He was elected to the House of Representatives and appointed United States minister to Great Britain. Elizabeth Prescott (1828-1864) was the daughter of William Prescott (1796-1859) and Susan Amory (1802-1869).
