In the foreground of this large view, workmen are laying the foundations of Solomon's temple with the town of Jerusalem in the background, on a hill. An impression of the print by Caspar Luyken after his brother's design is in the Rijksprentenkabinet, Amsterdam (inv. RP-P-1896-A-19368-2974). Seven more prints probably for a series of biblical scenes are known (see P. van Eeghen, op. cit., p. 194).
We are grateful to Peter Schatborn for his help cataloguing this drawing.
