Lacquered in nashiji and decorated with a Hosokawa family crest and paulownia crests designed in gold and aogai in a central roundel of brown lacquer; mounted with silver fittings decorated en suite to the saya carved with foliate scroll in katakiri-bori and with Hosokawa family crests, the fuchi signed Goto Seijo and with kao and dated Ansei teishi joju (1857); gilt menuki formed as a house; tawarabyo formed as karabishi in mokko-shaped crests
