Signed Bungo no kuni Fujiwara Shigeyuki, Edo period (17th century)
The configuration honzukuri, iori-mune, chu-kissaki and toriizori curvature with bohi ni soehi and marudome carved on both sides; forging pattern itame with jinie, shirake utsuri, suguha of ko-nie with notare by the hamachi, the tip ko-maru boshi; tang ubu with one hole and fitted with a double silvered-copper habaki; in a plain wood scabbard with inscription of presentation
70.8cm.; 3cm. wide at the start of tempered edge; 2.1cm. wide before tip
