Hirazukuri, iori-mune, carved with two bohi ni soehi on the omote, one bohi ni soehi on the ura; forging pattern itame with jinie, chikei; ko-midare tempered edge of nie and wide habuchi, kinsuji, slight togari with long kaeri at the tip; the tang ubu, one hole and gilt-copper habaki

The blade is by the second of six recorded generations of smiths signing Uda Kunifusa, although it is not certain how many were working during the Oei era when this tanto was probably made. The school was named after Uda in Yamato, where the first generation migrated to Etchu Province, where it is said Kunifusa was taught by Norishige.
