He had his first exhibit displayed at the age of seven. By fourteen, he had started sculpting and carving birds out of wood with his only tool being his pen knife. "Everytime I saw birds I took the opportunity to observe them and their surroundings". Vivid impressions steming from Gary's observations of nature coupled with his natural artistic sense of design, intricate detail and realism are incorporated into his sculptures which have been exhibited worldwide. He has received numerous Best of Show awards, including the 2nd 'Best in World' title on three occasions, and has won 2nd 'Best of Show' in the "Masters Class" at the Ward World Wildfowl Carving Championships. Gary has also had his works juried in the prestigious Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum "Birds in Art" exhibition. His work is featured in many national art and collecting magazines and can be found in private and corporate collections worldwide.
