Christie’s London presents a special spring auction of fine wines, including collections from The Royal Opera House and Skigaarden, alongside a magnificent cellar of Rousseau rarities, a classic Claret collection, a grand Paris townhouse cellar: La Cave Parisienne, a Doctor’s cellar and a Professor’s cellar.
The sale begins with a special offering of wine, sold on behalf of The Royal Opera House in Covent Garden. The proceeds of this collection will benefit the charitable outreach of The Royal Ballet & Opera Schools. Purchased and curated by a benefactor of The Royal Opera House, the collection features rare Champagne from growers such as Jacques Selosse and Grandes Marques such as Salon, Bordeaux from the best Châteaux, notably Château Latour 2005, and Château Mouton-Rothschild, Château Margaux and Château Haut-Brion in case quantities. Burgundy is featured with Grand and Premier Cru wines from producers such as Camille Giroud, Joseph Drouhin, Domaine Faiveley, Benjamin Leroux, Domaine d’Eugenie, Francois Lamarche and Clos de Tart. Rarities from the Rhône are offered, with vintages of Rene Rostaing’s La Landonne and Domaine de la Janasse’s treasured Châteauneuf-du-Pape XXL.
Skigaarden is a ski resort with a vast wine cellar carved into the Norwegian mountains. This magnificent collection includes rare bottles of Champagne from the likes of Adrien Renoir, Bollinger, Cedric Bouchard, Charles Heidsieck, Krug and Taittinger. Also offered are legendary Grand Cru Burgundies from Drouhin-Laroze, Lucien Le Moine and Domaine Grivot, and flights of vintages from Egon Müller, Giacomo Conterno and Vega Sicilia.
The sale also features superb vintages of Domaine Rousseau, both Grand and Premier Crus in immaculate condition, directly purchased from the producer. A classic collection of Claret features pristine cases of Châteaux Montrose, La Mission Haut-Brion, Cheval-Blanc, Ausone and Figeac amongst others. La Cave Parisienne is a townhouse cellar of fine wines, including starry names such as Krug, Clos du Mesnil 1988, Château Lafite-Rothschild 1982, a host of Château Margaux vintages in cases and Sassicaia.
The Doctor’s Cellar and The Professor’s Cellar are two lovely offerings, featuring cases of Domaine Leflaive, Domaine Comte Georges de Vogüé, Domaine Georges Roumier and Domaine Hudelot-Noëllat in the former, and Châteaux Mouton-Rothschild and Margaux 1985 in the latter.
