The first German edition, in a fine uniform set. Shackleton's account of the Nimrod expedition was a huge success and immediately translated into several languages. This translation includes the 12 color plates after George Marston, the official artist of the expedition. With the third volume, containing scientific results from the voyage, including pink errata slip. See Rosove p. 386, n. 6.

Three volumes, octavo (245 x 170mm). Portrait frontispiece; folding map and panorama in rear folder; 12 color plates, numerous black-and-white in-text illustrations. Publisher’s original light blue decorated cloth. Provenance: Werner Haruack (inscription dated 1916) – Manfred Nosbüsch.
