The present watch can be considered as one of the very last piece produced of reference 6265 bearing a case number starting with a R for the year 1988. Indeed, reference 6265 and 6263 (its black bezel sister) were introduced in the early '1970s until 1988. The clasp is stamped L7 which is dated 1987, denoting a perfectly appropriate production date just one year before the case. The bezel is a last series Mark III bezel, and the pusher with the wide ridge model 24-P302 with the Triplock 702 crown. Furthermore, the ultimate confirmation, the Rolex guarantee stamped Luigi Verga, is dated March 8th 1988, and is completely confirming all original pieces of the watch.
This 6265 R series can be considered as one of the very last manual winding Daytona produced by Rolex. As a matter of fact, the Geneva manufacture started to use the automatic caliber Zenith 4030 on model 16520 in 1988 the same year as the production of the 6263/ 6265 ceased.
