Cuno Amiet documented his work using ink and coloured pencil in his handwritten catalogue raisonné, in which he also recorded information on exhibitions and provenances. Based on his notes in this directory under the heading ‘Sold Works’, it can be seen that this painting Tree in Bloom was given by Amiet to the niece of his wife, Anna Amiet-Luder. The work remained as a donation in the collection of Greti Rothenhäusler-Morgenthaler and her husband Oskar until 1984, after which it was passed on as an inherited object to its current owner.
