Lots 220 – 232: Rare Modern Timepieces from an Important Private Swiss CollectionThis impressive collection of contemporary wristwatches encompasses some of the most coveted models of the industry, compiled over the years by a private collector driven by his passion for highly complicated and elegant timepieces. The selection of exclusive and important timepieces from some of the most prestigious manufactures includes examples of Patek Philippe’s iconic Nautilus model, at its centre the exceptionally rare reference 5711 in platinum, purchased directly by the client from the prestigious Salons of Patek Philippe in Geneva. Believed to have been manufactured in less than 50 examples for the firm’s most loyal clients, it takes direct inspiration from the original Nautilus reference 3700/1 designed in 1976 by the revered watch designer Gerald Genta. Further highlights are the acclaimed reference 5004 perpetual calendar chronograph with moon phases and the celebrated reference 5960 in one of its rarest forms, with a platinum case allied to a magnificent black dial. Testimony of the passion the client devoted to Patek Philippe, the reference is seen for first time at auction with a specially commissioned white chronograph hand and furthermore delivered with a French calendar, usually seen in English. A reverence to the German watchmaker, the collection also includes the rare 1815 “200th Anniversary F.A Lange”, crafted by A. Lange & Söhne in 2015 and made in only 200 examples to commemorate the anniversary of the firm’s founder, Ferdinand Adolph Lange. All watches of the collection are offered in excellent overall condition and were kept by the current owner with their original certificates, boxes and accompanying accessories.
