According to the Archives of Montres Breitling, the present watch was manufactured in 1970. Overhauled in 2015 in the firm’s workshops it is preserved in very good overall condition.

Soon after its launch in 1952, the Navitimer chronograph became a favorite with pilots. In addition to its ability to measure short times, this wrist instrument is equipped with a "navigation computer", a circular slide rule able to handle all airborne navigation calculations, such as climbing times or fuel consumption rate, and even to convert miles into nautical miles or kilometers. The first Navitimer was officially chosen by the AOPA (Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association). Today, this model has lent its name to a line of original mechanical chronographs with various technical features and fitted with the famous slide rule.
