DONALD, Henry Alexander (1909-1979), serving with the Royal Air Force in Palestine. [Photograph album.] Palestine, c.1947. Approximately 86 photographs, various sizes, the majority approx 67 x 91mm, loose or tipped into the pages of an album, oblong 4to, (210 x 260mm), together with a 'Certificate of Pilgrimage' at the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, March 1945, and related items. Contemporary leather-backed wooden boards with a depiction of the Church of the Nativity, Bethlehem on upper cover and lettered 'Jerusalem' on lower cover (cracked).

PHOTOGRAPHS OF VIOLENCE IN HAIFA TOWARDS THE END OF BRITISH RULE, including a group of 9 photographs depicting the aftermath of the 'Bomb outrage on Police H.Q.'s -- Haifa, on morning of 29.9.[19]47. (0600 hrs)'; two other photographs depict a member of the Palestine Police with an armoured car, and a major conflagration, possibly at the Haifa refinery; the album also contains a long sequence of images of Jerusalem, including the King David Hotel (undamaged) and the Palestine Museum, street scenes and Biblical sites, including the Temple and the Wailing Wall, with further landscapes and sea and city views in Palestine.
