With a flush-fitting, slightly domed cover, the black lacquer ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e [low relief lacquer], kakiwari [design left in reserve to reveal underlying lacquer] and suzu [tin] inlay, depicting sprays of nadeshiko [wild pinks], two gilt copper ring-fittings with kiri mon [paulownia crests], the interior black lacquer, fundame rims
