Lot Essay

In the spring of 1982, Kitaj moved to Paris for a year with Sandra Fisher. Marco Livingstone wrote: 'It was a way for both of them to consummate their long romance with the city and its artistic heritage, and turned out to be a memorable and, in their view an unrepeatable, year. Kitaj did a substantial amount of life drawing during this period using both professional models and friends' (op cit, p. 32).
