Martin Luther burning the Papal Bulls

Charles Allen Duval painted portraits and historical genre paintings which were popular in the Victorian era. The present work depicts Martin Luther burning the Papal Bull, which threatened him with excommunication from the Church, at Wittenburg in December 1520.
