The edition was published as a fundraiser for the Purchase Fund for Prints at the Museum of Modern Art, New York, and issued in conjunction with the museum's exhibition of works from the Gemini workshop called Technics and Creativity: Gemini G.E.L. (5 May - 6 June 1971).
