拍品专文

The harvester in the present watercolour is clearly a from-life study, made with a brush over minimal pencil lines. Sketches of this kind were kept for use in larger landscape watercolours that would have been painted in the studio.

For a note on the provenance see lot 74. The present watercolour was subseqently in the collection of Sir Geoffrey Harmsworth, and then that of his friend Matthew Pryor, two avid collectors of works by de Wint.
