A RUBY AND DIAMOND NECKLACE
Set with a series of thirty-four graduated cushion and oval-shaped rubies weighing 56.71 carats total, interspersed with square-shaped diamonds each suspending a pear-shaped diamond terminal, mounted in platinum, 40.5 cm long
Accompanied by report no. 58733 dated 1 March 2011 from the SSEF Swiss Gemmological Institute stating that the thirty-four rubies weighing 56.71 carats are of Burma (Myanmar) origin, with no indications of heating; also accompanied by an appendix stating that the forty-eight rubies possess extraordinary characteristics and merits special mention and appreciation. The rubies exhibit a well-saturated and matching colour, combined with an attractive shape and cutting style. Microscopic examination revealed inclusions, which represent the hallmarks of reputed classical ruby mines from the Mogok valley in Burma (Myanmar). Assembling such a selection of natural Burmese rubies of this quality and matching colour is exceptional and the described jewellery with its combination of outstanding characteristics is a very rare treasure
Also accompanied by report no. GRS2010-102529 dated 1 December 2010 from the Gem Research Swiss Lab stating that the thirty-four rubies are of Burma (Myanmar) origin, vivid red colour (GRS type "pigeon's blood"), with no indication of thermal treatment
