Reis tout à fait sympathiquement', bound (as issued), in very good condition, original paper-covered boards, stamp-inscribed '17 in red on the cover, additional green cloth-covered portfolio with gilt title on spine. 13 x 10 in. Bernard Reis served as financial advisor to many New York based artists including several leading Abstract Expressionists. The Reis's monthly parties became famous, not least for André Breton's 'sex truths' game which was taken seriously to the point of fining non-truthful responders. Bernard Reis's most important legacy is his role in advising Peggy Guggenheim to set up her first commercial gallery, although he is also remembered as one of the principle trustees for the hotly contested estate of Mark Rothko.
