Lot Essay

Despite Zinkeisen's success as a commercial artist, she was best known for her theatrical design. As Charles Cohran's chief stage and costume designer, Zinkeisen designed costumes for plays by Noël Coward at the London Pavilion and Cole Porter at the Adelphi Theatre. During the War, she designed costumes for the Old Vic productions and after the war she worked on a handful of films.
