Yonel Lebovici began his carrer in 1959 working for the Société Nationale de Constructions Aeronautiques du Sud-Est, a mnaufacturer of helicopters and airplanes. Subsequent to studying industrial design, Lebovici opened in 1971 his Paris gallery Formes et Couleurs, exhibiting a variety of limited-edition space-age and pop art inspired creations, many of which displayed a heritage to the designer's technical and practical training in the aeronautics industry. His sophisticated and engagingly subversive designs were by the late 1970s enjoyed by a fashionable clientele, and distributed by the Parisian boutiques Cardin and Jansen.
