SISLEY, Alfred (1839-1899). Autograph letter signed ("A. Sisley") to an unknown correspondent, Moret-sur-Loing, 15 March 1894. 3 pages, two minor tears to top of page 3, in custom brown wood frame with image of Sisley (unexamined out of frame). In French. Sisley indicates that he is not up-to-date on Parisian affairs, as he has been away from the city and has had "my leg up on a chair" for the past three weeks. He has heard that "... [art critic Théodore] Duret must sell his collection at [gallery Georges] Petit on the 19th...I would be interested to know if the painting that he has from me (La machine de Marly) will sell..." (The painting sold on the 19th to Durand-Ruel for 1,550 francs). -- KISLING, Moise (1891-1953). Autograph letter signed ("M. Kisling") to an unidentified correspondent, Marseille, 26 January 1933. 1½ pages, on "Hotel Beauvau" stationery, fine. In custom brown and gilt wood frame with image of the artist (unexamined out of frame). In French. Thanking the recipient for congratulations on a ribbon [an award], Kisling writes: "I will need to write to my wife in order to get the photo that you asked me for. As soon as I receive it I will send it to you and maybe there is still time to publish it."
