From her window she looks out onto the sprawling veld and watches the textures and colours of the vegetation change with the seasons. She then translates those dappled shades and vibrant contrasts in to her painting and sculpture - evoking emotions and atmosphere that are exclusively African. Her unique style is impressionistic with the oil paint applied in washes like watercolour...."I like to create an evocative and mysterious atmosphere in my paintings, even if I create quite realistic works, such as a detailed study of an animal........I get the most satisfaction from creating compositional paintings where I can weave bits of detail, landscape, character, mood and colour." The artist is a graduate of the Port Elizabeth Technikon where she discovered her love of sculpture in all mediums. She has won numerous awards and accolades in South Africa, including Best Art Student at the Technikon.
