Lot Essay

We are grateful to Dr. Salomon Grimberg and to Susan Aberth Ph.D. for their assistance cataloguing this work.

The scholar Susan Aberth believes that the present work may illustrate the apartment where Carrington lived while attending the Chelsea Art School and the Ozenfant Academy in London from 1936-37, before meeting the surrealist artist Max Ernst and departing with him for Paris.
