signed and dated 'Nicholson. 1908' (lower right), signed with initials and inscribed 'Saturday/ My Dear W.H./ If you care for/ this bowl/ please keep it/ it's the best I can/ do. Apropos/ of nothing/ but my regard/ for you/ Ever/ W N' (on Savile Club headed paper attached to the reverse)
