‘To P.G. Wodehouse with reverence, admiration and many long years of deeply enjoyed reading – no one like you! Agatha Christie’: an important presentation copy of the first edition, inscribed by the author. The two writers greatly admired each other’s work and Wodehouse was to be the dedicatee of Christie’s next published novel, Hallowe’en Party (1969). Hubin, p. 79.
Octavo. (Some stains.) Original green cloth, spine lettered in silver (slight spotting to endpapers, stains to covers, crease to spine, spine ends gently bumped, boards slightly bowed); original dust-jacket (spine slightly sunned, a little chipped at head and foot of spine, discoloured along folds, slight creases to upper flap and edges, spotting to edges); housed in a red quarter morocco solander box. Provenance: P.G. Wodehouse (1881-1975; author’s presentation inscription on preliminary blank, and posthumous book label ‘From the Library of P.G. Wodehouse’).
