Inscribed by the author to her secretary, amanuensis and close friend Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher: ‘With love from Agatha.’ A wonderful association copy. We are able to trace just one copy in the dust-jacket in auction records in over 40 years. Hind p. 79.
Octavo. 4 pages of publisher’s advertisements at end (minor spotting to first and final gatherings). Original orange cloth, spine lettered in black (free endpapers slightly browned, spine sunned, top edges of boards spotted, edges slightly foxed); original pictorial dust-jacket priced 7/6 supplied from another copy (with expert restoration at head and foot of spine and along top edge and ends of folds). Provenance: Charlotte ‘Carlo’ Fisher (1895-1976, secretary, amanuensis and close friend of Agatha Christie; signed by the author on front free endpaper, and with Fisher’s posthumous book label).
