Lot Essay
Asa Lingard was a wealthy northern draper and a key collector of Modern British Art in the early Twentieth Century. He sat on the committee of the annual spring exhibition of the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery in Bradford, and was a regular collector and patron of notable artist's such as David Bomberg. Much of his esteemed collection was gifted to the Cartwright Hall Art Gallery, City of Bradford in the 1930s, where it can still be seen to this day.
