Yayoi Kusama flew from Japan to Seattle, United States for the first time in 1957 to participate in her exhibition. From her flight, she could see surface of the Pacific Ocean at a distant. She felt that movement of the gentle waves looked like a giant net that was undulating. It inspired her to paint the watercolour series Pacific Ocean - it is also considered the predecessor of the Infinity Net series. No. 10. F. B. (Lot 204) belongs to this series. The murky background reminds viewers of the mysterious depth of the ocean. Gathering and dispersing, a myriad of sinuous lines in light hues sprawl all over the picture. Kusama does not aim to depict the naturalistic world. The lines of the net is a pure and resolute visual symbol. It is devouring solitude and emptiness. It has no beginning and no end.
