Wie im Titel Un chemin à Cagnes zu entnehmen, zeigt das Gemälde eine schmale Strasse in der südfranzösischen Provinz Cagnes-sur-Mer. In mitten einer Blumenweide führt ein kleiner Pfad weg von der Landstrasse zu einem hellgrünen Tor, hinter welchem üppige Orangenbäume hervorragen. Die durch den rosafarbenen Himmel erzeugte Abendstimmung verleiht dem Werk eine idyllische Wahrnehmung.
Das Werk wurde irrtümlicherweise 1921 datiert. Im Werkkatalog wird erwähnt, dass das Gemälde 1922 entstanden ist.
As the title Un chemin à Cagnes suggests, this is a painting of a small street in the province of Cagnes-sur-Mer in the south of France. Out of a bed of flowers a small path leads away from the main road towards a light green door, behind which orange trees stand out. The pink tones of the sky suggest an evening glow that bathes the work in an idyllic atmosphere.
This piece was wrongly dated as 1921. In the oeuvre catalogue, there is mention of the painting have been made in 1922.
